Boyanup Hard courts and Building upgrades -Official Completion
The Shire of Capel was proud to host an event in celebration of the official completion of Boyanup Hard courts and Building upgrades on Thursday the 12th of September 2019.
This project included the renovation of three community sporting club building facilities in Boyanup; the Boyanup Basketball / Netball club rooms, the Boyanup Bowls Club and the Boyanup AFL club rooms. Where possible this project targeted the internal aesthetics and functionality of these buildings, with one of the key objectives of the project was to make these facilities universally accessible to all of the community.
In addition, the Boyanup Hard courts have been redeveloped to accommodate the multi-sports of Basketball, Netball and Tennis.
The official completion event was a chance to acknowledge the many people who contributed their time, knowledge and creativity to many aspects of the project, of the project:
- Shire of Capel staff from Building Services, Technical Services, and the Community Development Team.
- External funding for the hard court part of the overall project was provided by the State Government’s Department of Local Government Sport and Cultural Industries and the Federal Government through Sport Australia.
- The building contractors CEM Alliance whom commissioned the drawings and undertook the building renovations and Carbone who constructed the renovated Hard courts and the new car park adjacent.
The event included speeches from the Shire of Capel’s President, Cr. Murray Scott and from Hon Mick Murray, MLA, Minister for Seniors and Ageing; Volunteering; Sport and Recreation. The event also highlighted the long term commitment to the precinct of Boyanup Memorial Park Committee Life Members Julian Sanders and Noel Jones and Boyanup Basketball Club Life Member Maureen Keeser.
These dignitaries highlighted the amazing work done, the importance and benefits of projects like these bring to our community and concluded the official ceremony with a ribbon-cutting ceremony.
The formalities concluded with an afternoon tea provided by and located at the Boyanup Bowls Club.
