On 5 May thirty seniors made the trip to Optus Stadium with the Shire’s Community Development team to watch the West Coast Eagles take on Port Adelaide Power. The bus trip went by fast as the group were busy cracking jokes and talking footy. Some of us got in all of our daily exercise after doing a full lap of the stadium before locating our seats, and a bucket of hot chips was in order. Once settled in, we enjoyed a vibrant atmosphere with a great view from the top tier, where you could really appreciate the colosseum-like feel of the ground.
The seniors had a blast cheering their team on to a win, and giving the umpires some “constructive criticism”. The trip back was full of high spirits, with some of the seniors commenting how well our Shire looks after them. Others stated that trips like this were definitely something they would love to do again, highlighting the success of the day.
